Your understanding of what sort of remote control is required to
implement said "kill switch" is incomplete.

As any student of history can tell you has often been the case.  Our
brief respite of relative calm in the developed west has been a
localized, and recent event.

Right.  And since neither of them are willing to allow you oversight
(by looking at the source), neither can be (wisely) trusted.
