[GRLUG] Dell gives the go-ahead for Linux

I disagree.  I've heard the same information as Ben has, that the OEMs
get paid for all the evaluation and advertising software that comes
preinstalled on systems.

That makes sense, if for no other reason that one of their biggest
customer complaints must be how slow OEM systems are. And all that
preinstalled software *does* make it run darn slow.

If such software packages were available for Linux installs, I think
you'd see the price of Linux pre-installs dropped.  You'll also see
people complain about the speed of their brand new "Linucks" systems.
